New edition of Festival Simfònic

The event will take place on the 7th of June and will include 130 simultaneous free concerts in locations throughout Catalonia and the Balearic Island

On Saturday the 7th of June, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands will ring to the sound of music thanks to the Festival Simfònic, which will celebrate its 4th edition by coordinating some 7000 music school students from 130 establishments into offering 130 simultaneous free, unique, one-off concerts.

In Barcelona the concerts will be held in such unique locations as the zoo, Poble Espanyol, civic centres, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, the Tibidabo Parc d'Atraccions, libraries, museums and the Palau de la Música, among others. The performances will encompass genres such as opera, choral singing, rock, electronic music, jazz, gospel, junk and even popular traditional music. In short, all possible musical genres will be represented in one macro music festival.

This year’s Simfònic is headed by Andrea Motis & Joan Chamorro, who will perform a version of the American standard “My Baby Just Cares for Me”, a song which was made popular by Nina Simone and has been chosen as the song to be interpreted simultaneously by all the musicians participating in the festival at precisely 7 pm on the day in question.
