"Obra-col·lecció. L’artista com a col·leccionista", (Artwork-collection. The artist as collector) up until the 25th of May in Foto Colectania

The exhibition, commissioned by Joan Fontcuberta, is a reflexion on the growing interest for serialised artworks

Up until the 25th of May, the Foto Colectania Foundation presents a self-produced project titled Obra-col·lecció. L’artista com a col·leccionista, a reflection on the growing interest for serialised artworks, on the poetry of enumeration, a current paradigm in which the creator and the collector intersect.

The exhibition gathers over 5000 photographs in just 10 works of art and includes artists such as Ève Cadieux, Martin Parr, Jean-Gabriel Periot, Joachim Schmid, Richard Simpkin, Emilio Chapela Pérez, Hans Eijkelboom, Erik Kessel, Eric Tabuchi and Penelope Umbrico.

The exhibition is commissioned by renowned artist Joan Fontcuberta, recent winner of the international Hasselblad Award, often cited as the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for photography. The award was presented on the 7th of March here in Barcelona. During the presentation ceremony Bo Myhrman, director of the Hasselblad Foundation, highlighted the professional career of the Catalan photographer, who he described as “one of the most inventive contemporary photographers”.
