The OBC during a recent concert

Some of the interpretations of the OBC, in a playlist

You will find pieces that go from 'West Side Story’s' 'Mambo'  to Johann Strauss son’s 'Thunder and Lightning Polka’.

These days, fans of orchestral music can enjoy the interpretative force of the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC). How? Very simple, you can simply go to their YouTube playlist and you'll find eight videos of various works. All of them are part of a program that was broadcasted in 2015 on Canal 33 of the  Televisió de Catalunya in a program called Ets música, and before each piece, a viewer comments on what he/she likes most about the composition that will be played immediately after.

The playlist includes everything from classical music to orchestral songs written in the 20th century, but with the common denominator that all of the chosen pieces are very popular. For example, there is the Can-can of Jacques Offenbach, Leonard Bernstein’s Mambo, Thunder and Lightning Polka by Johann Strauss son, a movement of the Seventh Symphony by Beethoven, or Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer's Apprentice. All the recordings were made in L'Auditori, the OBC's headquarters since 1999, and with Xavier Puig as its director.

You can find the playlist in this link.
