Print 3D

The revolution in 3D printing arrives at the CosmoCaixa with an exhibition on this technology.

More than 30 pieces printed in 3D and some interactive elements are the protagonists of the new exhibition of the CosmoCaixa Print3D reprinting reality, which can be visited from 29 September 2020 to 19 September 2021. An invitation to travel into the future and see the many applications of 3D printing in fields such as medicine, construction, engineering and art.

3D printing has revolutionised the market in many ways. On the one hand, it has made it possible for us to travel to the past by reproducing extinct species and detailed archaeological relics. At the same time, it allows us to travel to the future, using 3D printing to design objects that will improve our quality of life or that we will use in the exploration of space and other planets. Likewise, this technology represents a change in the current model of construction, as it allows us to manufacture the world around us on many scales. In fact, there is already a bridge built with 3D technology in Spain, a model of which can be seen in the same exhibition.

The exhibition is divided into eight thematic areas. Through them, visitors can understand the process of printing in three dimensions, the enormous range of applications and the advances that this technology poses in different sectors. This is the case, for example, of medicine, where thanks to 3D printing it has been possible to give a boost to tissue engineering, or food, where through this technology synthetic meat is being produced in the laboratory.

Through audiovisual and interactive materials and real pieces made with 3D printers, visitors to the exhibition will be able to enter a world of objects that will mark our future. An exhibition that is complemented by various activities related to the world of three-dimensional printing and its impact on society.
