Romeo and Juliet

'Romeo and Juliet’ is back at La Seca – Espai Brossa

This staging by the Projecte Ingenu company was one of the big successes at this theatre last season

This new take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was a big hit with the public upon its premiere last year and now this adaptation by Marc Chornet is back on the billboard though with a number of changes: Martí Salvat is replacing Carlos Cuevas as Romeo, while Clàudia Benito is repeating as Juliet, a role she shares with Roser Tàpias.

The play tells the story of two young people who attempt to throw off their inheritance of a feud between two families and whose end proves to be tragic. In the end, it’s a work that addresses the impossibility of escaping from one’s legacy.

The Procjete Ingenu company is taking on this version of the play after performing Hamlet under the orders of Raimon Molins. Their staging has an intimate, minimal, dark air and a certain elegance that aims to empower the poetry of the original. The cast features young actors such as Jordi Llordella, Xavier Torra, Ricard Farré, Adriana Fígols, Rosa Serra, Alba José and Cristina López.
