The most authentic outdoor cinema is back: the Sala Montjuïc cinema

16 nights of cinema and music with films from all genres at the base of the Montjuïc Castle.

One of the best-known and most anxiously-awaited outdoor cinemas in Barcelona’s summertime is the Sala Montjuïc cinema. From late June until early August, the gardens around Montjuïc Castle open their gates to everyone who wants to spend an evening with a good film, music and food. The range of films shown, all in original version, includes a variety of genres so that everyone can enjoy the activity, children and adults alike. We’ll see both recent premieres and must-see classics, animations and documentaries, comedies and musicals, and much more. It’s an activity that both residents and visitors from around the world enjoy year after year. And as usual, the feature films will be preceded by a concert and a short film, with the focus this year on films directed by women.

From 28 June to 2 August, 16 different films will be shown, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting at 8:30 pm in the Santa Eulàlia moat at Montjuïc Castle. Some of the films that will be screened include Lady Bird, Bohemian Rhapsody, Goodfellas, Pain and Glory, Isle of Dogs, Faces Places, The Favourite, Kill Bill and Some Like it Hot. As always, the last day is reserved for a surprise film that won’t be announced until the last minute.

General tickets cost €6.50, but there are also discounted passes for 3 and 5 sessions. You can buy tickets on the Sala Montjuïc cinema website.
