Jazz among Gaudi's xemeneies

Cycle of concerts on the roof of La Pedrera featuring emerging artists.

On Thursday and Friday evenings until 18 August, the rooftop of La Pedrera is reserved for the best emerging jazz. The spectators and the popular chimneys of Antoni Gaudí will witness the concerts of the Talents Jazz, an event that has the collaboration of the Conservatori del Liceu, the Taller de Músics and the ESMUC. In addition, the ticket includes the possibility of a free visit to the attic of the Casa Milà, to the attic of the whale, where the interpretative space of Gaudí's work is located, and the attendees will also be given a glass of cava.

Let's mention some of the artists performing at this year's Talents Jazz. For example, on 9 June, Little Phat Band will take to the rooftop, an ensemble born out of the curiosity of a group of students interested in mixing styles and genres, including jazz as a common thread, and which pays tribute to Gordon Goodwin's Little Phat Band. On 22 June, the Sander Peña Group, a quintet born out of the compositional and personal exploration of the Castro-Urdiales musician Alesander Peña, will play. On the night of Saturday the 24th of June, San Juan (there will be no concert on Friday the 23rd as it coincides with the festival), the group led by Pau Vidal 'Tarquim', a young saxophonist, flautist and composer who has made a name for himself on the music scene by participating in projects by great international artists such as Enrique Bunbury and Nathy Peluso, will perform. In July, on the 7th, it will be the turn of the quintet led by the singer from Tenerife Sara Lilu and, a week later, Julia Nar, an artist who feels a special attraction for R&B, neo soul and jazz mixed with the most electronic sounds, will bring her musical project to the house designed by Gaudí. Marta Duran Quartet will present her repertoire, which seeks to transmit her own sound with the sonority of jazz and bossa nova as a base, on 21 July, while 4 August will be the day of the composer and bassist Arnau Torné and his jazz fusion group. The last recital of the cycle will be for the classical jazz of the María Esteban Quintet.
