Time for the revolutionary TAO Dance Theater company
The company will be performing at Mercat de les Flors from 7 to 9 October
Since it was created in 2008, TAO Dance Theater has revolutionised the dance scene with a minimalism with roots approach that explores the human body as a visual element, devoid of any narrative and representational support. The company, which is directed by Tao Ye, has performed at the world’s major theatres and is now calling in at Barcelona’s Mercat de les Flors for three unique sessions from 7 to 9 October.
The company will be performing two numbered pieces: 4 and 5. The first features bodies in continual movement, searching each other while seemingly kept apart by an invisible force. 5, in contrast, features a mass of bodies held together by a force, forming a kind of kaleidoscopic communion. Both pieces feature music by Chinese indie-folk rock musician Xiao He.
These pieces have numbers rather than words as titles because Tao Ye considers words to be too concrete and prefers to leave more to the audiences’ imagination.
