Installation 'Black Sea' by Carlos Aires

Transversal routes through the MACBA

By rethinking the contents of the museum, new virtual tours through the website are proposed in different materials and formats.

A new online proposal from the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona has arrived: the Routes, a different way of approaching the contents of the centre's website. Can new narratives arise if the way of thinking, elaborating and ordering contents is changed? By doing this exercise, the museum proposes different transversal itineraries through these materials organized according to a theme, interest or academic concept that they suggest to you. And what does transversal mean? Well, that the formats of the materials can be very diverse: audios, videos, artist's files, works, publications, exhibitions... Everything fits!

What can you find? ‘Summer Readings’ recommends a selection of texts by authors such as Hèctor Parra, Tom McCarthy, Eugeni Bonet, Angela McRobbie and Carol Rama. Or you can see a sample of different materials that refer to ‘The Mediterranean’: the installation 'Mar Negro' by Carlos Aires, the documentary collection of 60,000 negatives by Xavier Miserachs and a conference on art, economy and society around our sea, among other things. As you can see, the contents of each tour are very varied and it is worth going in to discover them.

Doing the MACBA tours is totally free and very easy. All you have to do is go to the website and start browsing through the large amount of material available.
