Drawing by Èlia Llach

The ‘Unidentifiable sketches’ of Èlia Llach

This exhibition can be seen at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya until January of next year.

‘Unidentifiable sketches’: two words that are apparently contradictory but that perfectly explain what they want to represent: difficult sketches to identify, unprecise and made on pieces of paper, next to other drawings. Maybe even only sketches that the artist made just to get ready for drawing. This exhibition by Èlia Llach, which was interrupted by covid, has new dates and can be seen at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya until January 10, 2021.

The exhibition ‘Unidentifiable sketches’ is made in collaboration with the Gabinet de Dibuixos i Gravats, where the artist Èlia Llach made numerous visits. In these, he noticed some drawings and sketches by the painter Marià Fortuny, many of them unfinished, and that are classified precisely as ‘unidentifiable sketches’. In fact, you can see one that is rarely exhibited, shown in the gallery at the request of the artist. These drawings connected with Llach to make this exhibition with large drawing format where the meaning of the word ‘unidentifiable’ is the main axis.

Entrance to this exhibition is free and can be visited during the operating hours at the MNAC, which you can consult on their website. For more information, download the exhibition brochure.
