Jazz singer Sabine van Waesberghe in the middle of a live performance

Sabine van Waesberghe is playing at the Lluïsos d'Horta

The jazz and gospel singer will perform classical themes and incursions from chanson, swing and bossa-nova.

As part of the 14th season of Vespres de jazz, Lluïsos d'Horta has programmed a concert by the Sabine van Waesberghe Jazz Quartet on 11 December.

Sabine van Waesberghe is a singer from the French West Indies. After going to theatre school and singing in France, she moved to New York, attracted by American musical comedies and Negro spirituals.

Her repertoire ranges from classics by Cole Porter and Frank Sinatra to contemporary songs and American Christmas songs as well as some forays into the world of swing, bossa-nova, the chanson of Josephine Baker or Edith Piaf, and the lyric singing of the Baroque and Romanticism as a soprano. Van Waesberghe has a solid career, especially in France and Catalonia, where she has performed with renowned musicians, including pianists of the likes of Jan Stümke, Ángel Soler, Ramon Escalé, Enric Carreras, Jaume Vilaseca and Marc Maestro; double bass players like Curro Gálvez and Dick Them; saxophonist Jorge Cuscueta; guitarist Gustavo Them, and vibraphonist Geni Barry.

At Lluïsos d'Horta, Waesberghe will perform American jazz standards and revisit some current melodies in jazz key, accompanied by Jaume Vilaseca (piano), Curro Gálvez (double bass) and Ramon Díaz (drums).

Tickets will be 12 euros for the general public and 10 for members of the organisation. You can get your ticket through this link.
