When Flamenco Whispers
El Molino presents 'Flamenco de Cerca', an acoustic and intimate proposal from two artists who explore the genre through truth and essence.
Passion, depth, and roots. Flamenco is emotion and intensity, an artistic expression that, through the union of guitar, handclaps, and movement, tells stories of love, struggle, and life. Its evocative power and authenticity are best seen up close. And it is at close range that the show by Pere Martínez and Edgar Platón is presented at El Molino.
Flamenco de Cerca arrives on July 20 to offer a raw and sincere recital, where voice and guitar dialogue without artifice, connecting the essence of the genre with the audience in an intimate and real way. An emotional journey that unites roots and contemporaneity in an acoustic and direct format.
The duo is made up, on one hand, of Pere Martínez Ventura, an artist trained at the Taller de Músics of Barcelona under the guidance of great masters such as Chiqui de la Línea and Chicuelo, who early on showed his creative side by fusing flamenco, symphonic music, and Catalan tradition. His debut came in 2013 at Palau de la Música, where he performed the poem La pell de brau, and since then he has continued to bring his unique and transcendental way of understanding music to stages across Europe, Asia, and America.
On the other hand, Edgar Platón, a Barcelona-born guitarist (1990), brings to this duo a vision that combines the depth of flamenco roots with a sensitivity open to innovation. Also trained at Taller de Músics, he began his path in flamenco in 2010 and since then has developed a personal style that connects tradition and avant-garde. He has performed internationally, from France to Tunisia, and is the founder of the Flamenco de Cerca project, which seeks to bring flamenco closer to the public in an intimate, honest, and unfiltered format. In addition to his work as a performer, Platón is also a teacher and continues to expand the boundaries of flamenco without losing its essence.
Together, Pere Martínez and Edgar Platón offer a unique experience at El Molino: an encounter with flamenco at its purest and most alive, capable of speaking to the heart in its own voice.
