Anna Smith Spark, born in 1978 in the United Kingdom, is the author of the acclaimed grimdark epic fantasy trilogy Empires of Dust, comprising The Court of Broken Knives – which was recently translated into Spanish – The Tower of Living and Dying and The House of Sacrifice. She has also written short fiction set in and around the world of the series. Her work has been compared to Game of Thrones and to the great works of Ursula K. Le Guin, and she has often been dubbed ‘Lady Grimdark’.
