The fantastic 42 panel: International women authors
In fantasy genres, men authors have historically enjoyed more visibility than women authors. In recent years, though, more and more women have proven that they are masters of non-mimetic fiction and have (rightfully) won readers over. For the first time at the 42 Festival, we have put together a round table consisting exclusively of international women authors, featuring all the big names in fantasy literature today. Fonda Lee, Anna Starobinets, V. E. Schwab, Claire North, Frances Hardinge, Amal El-Mohtar, V. L. Bovalino, Smith Spark and Stella Tack have shown that this genre offers many ways to tell great stories, to spark reflection and to transform reality. All of them and their experiences have come together to start a true literary revolution. The assistant curator for the 42 Festival, Susana Vallejo, will talk to them about the paths paved by women fantasy authors, about what they want to explore as women authors and about the causes worth defending in their books.
