Carme Torras
Carme Torras, who holds a PhD in computer science, is a research professor at the Institute of Robotics (CSIC-UPC) and a writer. In 2020, she won the National Research Award for her contributions to social robotics and technoethics. Her novels La mutació sentimental [translated into English as The Vestigial Heart] (winner of the Pedrolo and Ictineu Awards) and Enxarxats [Entangled] (Ictineu Award) and the short story collection Estimades màquines [Dear Machines] explore ethical dilemmas raised by artificial intelligence and social robotics. She has also contributed to the anthologies Barcelona 2059 and Vapor negre [Black Steam]. Her work has been translated into English, Spanish, Italian and Chinese. She is a member of the Catalan-Language Writers Association (AELC) and the Catalan Science Fiction and Fantasy Society (SCCFF).
