Laura Ortiz Gómez, born in Bogotá in 1986, studied literature at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in her hometown and completed a master’s degree in creative writing at the Universidad Nacional Tres de Febrero in Buenos Aires. Her professional life has always been closely tied to books, and she promotes reading and writing throughout Colombia. Ortiz captivated readers with her début short story collection Sofoco [Swelter], which won the Elisa Mújica National Narrative Prize. Indócil [Unruly] is her long-awaited first novel.
