Mind-blowing worlds: The great round table of Latin American voices
Fantasy genres are experiencing a golden age at the moment in Latin America. Not just because of the sheer number of literary creations that feature all kinds of non-mimetic genres, but also because of the quality. This round table will bring together leading writers from countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador and Cuba. Edmundo Paz Soldán, Alberto Chimal, Maria Fernanda Ampuero, Santiago Roncagliolo, Esther Cross, Juan Mattio, Laura Ortiz, Ramiro Sanchiz and Maielis González have crafted works of science fiction, horror and fantasy from different perspectives but the same motivation: in order to speak out against injustice, shatter stereotypes to shine a light on other possible worlds. The curator of the 42 Festival, Ricard Ruiz Garzón, will talk with them and delve into their unique perspectives to find out how Latin American literature has become the world’s top powerhouse for premium fantasy creations.
