María Fernanda Ampuero
María Fernanda Ampuero, born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 1976, is a writer and journalist. She holds a degree in language and literature and later pursued studies in journalism, devoting her life to writing. She began her career as a columnist at El Universal and has since contributed to newspapers such as ABC and El País. In the literary sphere, she has explored both non-fiction and fiction, including novels and short stories. Her first short-story collection, Pelea de Gallos – winner of the Tigre Juan Prize – has been translated into several languages [including English: Cockfight] and has gone through more than twenty-five print runs. Her most recent books are Visceral (Páginas de Espuma) and Dantescas, antología de autoras que bajaron a los infiernos [Dantescas: Anthology of Women Authors Who Descended into Hell] (Fera Ediciones).
