Mark Rosenblatt
Teatre Romea
From July 5 to August 3It's the summer of 1983, Roald Dahl is making last-minute edits to his new work. But the outcry at his recent, explicitly antisemitic article won't die down. Across a single afternoon at his family home, and rocked by an unexpectedly explosive confrontation, Dahl is forced to choose: make a public apology or risk his name and reputation.
Giant, film and theatre director Mark Rosenblatt’s debut play, premiered at The Royal Court Theatre Downstairs in September 2024 and was later performed at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London to great acclaim, earning multiple award nominations. Starring Josep Maria Pou, the play is directed by Josep Maria Mestres, previously seen at the Grec Festival as the director of works including Lunch With Wittgenstein (Ritter, Dene, Voss) (Grec 2010) and Miss Julie (Grec 2012) by Patrick Marber, adapted from August Strindberg’s play. His recent works include Justícia [Justice] (2020) by Guillem Clua and, last February, L’herència, a Catalan adaptation of Matthew López’s The Inheritance, which sold out at the Teatre Lliure.
A co-production by Teatre Romea and the 2025 Barcelona Grec Festival.
