A double bill concert featuring voice and guitar in this year’s edition of the Sociedad Flamenca El Dorado’s festival in Nou Barris.

Audiences are in for a double dose of cante [flamenco singing] and guitar in the second double bill concert of this year’s Desvarío Flamenco edition. First, we will see cantaora [flamenco singer] Sandra Carrasco, born in Huelva in 1981, who effortlessly excels in performing both classic “cantes” and other genres. In 2020, she released La luz del entendimiento [The Light of Understanding], directed by Pedro Ojesto, which pays tribute to female cantaoras, specifically seven greats of the genre, with special collaboration from Carmen Linares. Since debuting with Javier Limón, this talented cantaora from Huelva has been constantly working on a wide range of projects, performing alongside artists such as Anoushka Shankar, Avishai Cohen, Richard Bona, Josemi Carmona, and the Estévez/Paños company. She will be accompanied by guitarist David de Arahal, born in Arahal, Seville, in 2000. Having trained and worked with the greatest, he quickly emerged as one of the most promising young talents in flamenco guitar. His debut album Mar Verde [Green Sea], was well received by critics and public alike.

For the second performance of the evening, cantaor Pedro  ‘el Granaíno’ takes the stage, accompanied by Antonio de Patrocinio on the guitar. Born in 1973, Pedro Heredia Reyes of Granada has accompanied renowned cantaores such as Enrique and Estrella Morente, guitarists Vicente Amigo and Tomatito, and singer Alejandro Sanz. He also appeared in the Carlos Saura film Flamenco, flamenco. He will sing alongside Antonio de Patrocinio, son of the famous cantaor of the same name, on the guitar. In 2008, the Peña El Ciego de la Playa in Almería awarded him their Antonio de Patrocinio Prize for the best and most complete guitarist, recognising his talent both solo and as an accompanist for singing and guitar.

Desvarío replaced the Flamenco Festival in Nou Barris, which was founded in 2000 and ran for 17 years. El Dorado SFB has now taken over directing and managing the new festival in collaboration with the Nou Barris District’s Technical Services. El Dorado SFB is a cultural association set up in 2007 with the aim of creating a permanent space to promote and spread flamenco culture in Barcelona by viewing flamenco as a modern folk art.

Co-produced by Nou Barris District and El Dorado, Sociedad Flamenca Barcelonesa.

Supported by the Barcelona Grec Festival 2025.
