199 new officers join the City Police
The new intake, of which 29% are women, will start their practical experience at different police stations accompanied by experienced officers. The officers will conduct local policing work, strengthening ties with the public and expanding and rejuvenating the staff making up the Barcelona City Police.
In this respect, over 60% of the new intake are aged between 26 and 35. Some 53% of them have pursued higher studies.
This new recruitment process began in June last year with competitive entry exams which attracted over 4,000 applicants. A further 1,000 places with the City Police are due to be offered through recruitment processes during this term of office.
