New mass screening to detect asymptomatic cases of Covid-19

Mass testing gets under way in four locations in the city during the first week of December. The goal is to detect possible cases of Covid-19 among the under-16s, particularly asymptomatic cases, and be able to stop the spread of the virus by cutting possible community transmission chains.

The first mass screening points are:

Horta-Guinardó:
Where? At the Olímpics Municipal Sports Centre (CEM), at Passeig de la Vall d’Hebron 166.
When? From 1 to 4 December (3 pm to 8 pm).
Priority basic health areas (ABS): Horta and Sant Rafael.

L’Eixample:
Where? At the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site (Sala Hipòstila), in Carrer de Sant Antoni Maria Claret, on the corner with Carrer de Cartagena.
When? On 1 December, from 2 pm to 7.30 pm, and from 2 to 15 December, on working days from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm.
Priority basic health areas (ABS): Sagrada Família, Gaudí, Sanllehy, Sardenya, Guinardó, Congrés, Encants, Camp de l’Arpa, Lesseps and La Salut.

Nou Barris:
Where? At the Casal de Gent Gran Casa Nostra, at Carrer de la Maladeta, 38.
When? From 3 to 11 December, on working days from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm.
Priority basic health areas (ABS): Porta, Roquetes and Turó de la Peira.

Ciutat Vella:
Where? At the University of Barcelona, at Carrer de Montalegre, 6, in the meeting room at the Faculty of Geography and History and the Philosophy meeting room.
When? From 3 to 16 December, on working days from 8.30 am to 7 pm.
Priority basic health areas (ABS): Barceloneta, Casc Antic, Gòtic, Raval Sud and Raval Nord.

Besides these first four mass screening points, organised with the Catalan Ministry of Health, the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) and the Monitoring and Epidemiology Service at the Barcelona Public Health Agency (ASPB), another four points will be added in the second week of December to cover the city as a whole and particularly the neighbourhoods with the highest number of new cases.
