The joint commission has given the green light to tender a new cleaning contract for the removal of graffiti and daubed paint, the removal of posters and signs and other similar elements in streets. The main changes for the new contract relate to the cleaning of graffiti on urban furniture and elements of infrastructure and heritage. The latter will get a service adapted for protected buildings in compliance with current regulations.

The new contract will allow for a 30% increase in the number of workers, reaching 131 in all and with the subrogation of current staff. All of the technological contributions for the detection and management of graffiti introduced for the current contract will also be kept.

Cleaning services act in more than 123,000 cases every year to clean a total surface area of 300,345 square metres. The contract is part of the Cuidem Barcelona plan, to improve the cleaning and maintenance of public space in the city’s ten districts.
