The academic year for 2021-2022 sees the city’s five municipal music schools (Can Fargues, Can Ponsic, Eixample – Joan Manuel Serrat, Nou Barris and Sant Andreu – Mestre Pich Santasusana) offering long-term courses in 30 instrumental disciplines. Besides this training, all the schools will be offering parallel activities and courses such as music workshops for babies, music and movement for people of all ages, choral singing and more. In addition, concert cycles resume at the Can Fargues and Eixample schools after they were interrupted by the pandemic.

At the same time, recent months have brought improvements to the Can Ponsic and Nou Barris facilities, with an access ramp added and air-conditioning renewed, plus a complete revamp to the foyer, respectively.

Activities open to the city

Disciplines to be studied by students enrolled at the Municipal Music Conservatory include: piano, violin, flute, cello, viola, trombone, trumpet, saxophone, percussion, double bass, clarinet, singing and more. In parallel to teaching activities, the Conservatory is offering a programme of complementary music activities such as concerts, which will combine in-person and online sessions, music lectures and exhibitions.

Various renovation measures and improvements have also been carried out at the Conservatory, such as air-conditioning in classrooms, new furniture, new floors and IT systems.

For its part, the Bruc Obert programme will be offering courses, workshops and short courses for adults who wish to engage with music at an amateur level. The activities offered include instruments and vocals, music groups and music theory.
