The Barcelona Triatló by Santander is back for 2021
The Barcelona Triatló by Santander 2021 gets under way with a new format on 10 October, after last year’s event was suspended due the pandemic. This year’s triathlon is being revamped and will consist of two competitions: a popular event over a single distance for individuals, pairs and relay teams, and an international event. The latter is the Triathlon European Cup, which did go ahead last year, with men and women triathletes from around the world taking part.
The intention is for this second European Cup in Barcelona to provide continuity for the initiative started last year, when it was held for the first time, and promote this sports discipline which has solid roots in the city.
The epicentre for the two competitions is the seafront, the area along the Mar Bella and Nova Mar Bella beaches and the facilities at the municipal football ground Can Aranyó – Agapito Fernández and La Mar Bella municipal sports centre.
Both competitions will have a safety and prevention protocol for Covid-19, in line with the latest events organised by the Barcelona Institute for Sport (IBE), guaranteeing the safety of competitors and organisational staff alike.
