The display paid tribute to Havana, the guest city for this year’s Mercè, at the same time marking 150 years since the festivities started being organised by the City Council. There was also a special tribute to mark the centenary of the first concert by Pau Casals at the Palau de la Música Catalana, a year later than planned, as well as the 250^th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven.
