He is co-director of Barcelona Urban Research Institute (IDRA). 

He holds a PhD in Economic Anthropology from the University of Barcelona, the City University of New York and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales. He is also co-founder of the Sindicat de Llogateres [Renters’ Union], based on the principle that housing is a right.
