Climatologist
Professor of Physical Geography at the University of Barcelona and academic at the Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona [Barcelona Royal Academy of Sciences and the Arts].
He is currently the coordinator of the Grup d’Experts en Canvi Climàtic de Catalunya [Committee of Experts on Climate Change in Catalonia]. His main scientific contributions include the discovery of the Western Mediterranean Oscillation (WeMO) – a teleconnection pattern –, and the proposals of the Concentration Index and the consecutive disparity index, for the space-time analysis of precipitation. He has published 30 books and some 300 articles.
