How to get thereThe Collserola Tower, designed by Norman Foster, is an iconic telecommunications structure located on Vilana Hill within the Collserola Nature Park. Construction work began in 1990, and the tower opened on 27 June 1992 for the Barcelona Olympics.
The design prioritises adaptation to the natural area, a minimal impact on its surroundings, a slender appearance and novelty. This vision translated into a guyed tower featuring large cantilevered platforms around a concrete centre reminiscent of traditional telecommunications towers. Foster’s idea incorporated an advanced structural calculations thanks to his collaboration with Ove Arup’s engineering company.
