This clinic, located in the Raval neighbourhood, was the first rationalist-style public building in the city. The Catalan government of the Republican era chose the architects carefully: the government was seeking to offer modern medical care, and the group of architects commissioned to work on the project, members of the Group of Catalan Architects and Technicians for the Progress of Contemporary Architecture (GATCPAC), were advocating for architecture at the service of people. The building, located between Ronda de Sant Antoni and Carrer de Montalegre, became a paradigm of rationalism, with straight lines, geometric shapes and purpose-built spaces.

Made up of three sections, each one intended for different uses, the building has a central garden to help patients feel less isolated.

In the early 1980s, it was renovated and modernised. Currently one of the primary care centres in the Raval neighbourhood, it continues to be a leading centre for tuberculosis treatment.
