The call for applications to take part in the Música al Carrer project is now open

As part of the Cultura Viva programme of the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB), in collaboration with different areas of the City Council, organisations and social and cultural projects in the city, the Música al Carrer project contributes to improving the musical quality of those who choose to play in this environment. It also facilitates compliance with regulations and control tasks to ensure the proper functioning of this activity. If, until now, there were only 18 Music in the Street points, starting next September, there will be half a hundred distributed throughout the 10 districts of Barcelona. It is an initiative that is part of the government’s measures to guarantee the cultural rights of Barcelona’s citizens. For this reason, the process for granting 30 new accreditations for the project is now open. There is time to apply until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, 22 May.

In the document setting out the granting procedure, it is detailed that there will be 2 group accreditations (which can have between 3 and 6 members), 5 duet accreditations and 23 individual accreditations. The same person cannot apply for different categories. The applicant must include a repertoire of 10 songs in the form. The draw will take place on 25 May, and those chosen will have to pass an audition in order to prove a minimum level of musical proficiency. If any of the beneficiaries do not pass the audition, they will be replaced by the next one according to the order resulting from the draw. Between 6 and 22 June, some informative sessions on the project will be held, such as the regulations and the mechanics of participation, and lastly, accreditations will be handed out.
