Barcelona City Council opens its general call for subsidy and grant applications for 2021 on 7 January

The area of culture, with a total budget of over 4 million euros, is the one where most resources are being allocated as a way of supporting one of the sectors hit hardest by the current crisis.

Barcelona City Council’s general call for subsidy and grant applications for 2021 will be open from 7 to 27 January

This is an ordinary call, decided on a competitive basis, for awarding subsidies for district and city projects, activities and services in 25 thematic areas, such as the sports, social, commercial, environmental, economic and cultural areas. With a budget of over 4.2 million euros, culture is the area most resources are going to, in a firm commitment by the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) to stand by the sector in the current crisis.

Thematic areas

Projects eligible for subsidies in the cultural sphere are classified in some 20 programmes falling under two thematic areas, A for culture and C for education and culture, with a further distinction between city and district projects.

What’s new

A new area has been created for the 2021, namely, Y for science and universities. This includes the science and innovation programme which used to be in A for culture. The areas of education, and culture and education are being merged into a single area: C for education and culture. A notable new feature in the district area is the “Festival cycle and annual festival calendar” programme within the area of culture.

The regulatory terms and conditions of the call can be consulted in detail at this link.

The application-submission period starts on Thursday, 7 January 2021 and ends on Wednesday, 27 January.

The application must be submitted only onilne.
