Brain Film Fest 2023

The sixth edition of the film festival is coming up with screenings, round tables, talks and workshops related to the brain.

The mind is one of the most mysterious objects in the universe. On the other hand, cinema is one of the many arts that tries to answer questions about all aspects of life, from the simplest to the most complex. So why not tell stories and talk about the brain in them? From 15 to 19 March, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) is hosting the sixth edition of the Brain Film Fest, an international film festival focusing this year on art, creativity and the organ that governs our lives.

The different areas of the CCCB will screen the selected films and offer round tables, talks and workshops on the themes of the pieces and the central theme of this year's festival. Is it possible to understand the effects of creativity, art or beauty on our well-being? Can artistic expression provide an outlet for hidden experiences in our minds? How does the brain work when we start to create a painting, a song or any other kind of creation? These are some of the questions that the festival and its activities will try to answer.

The opening film of the festival will be Long Live My Happy Head, the documentary by Will Hewitt and Austen McCowan, and it will also feature films by such renowned personalities as Isabel Coixet, Werner Herzog, Gerardo Herrero and Isaki Lacuesta, among many others. This edition will also feature the collaboration of the El Maldà theatre and its play 3 desitjos, a story about the lives of two people suffering from Alzheimer's and the consequences of the disease. An audiovisual, artistic and reflective journey to get closer to the inside of our minds. Don't miss it!
