A tribute to the greatest expression of kinetic art
The Ideal is hosting an immersive exhibition on the work of Jordi Pericot.
Born in El Masnou in 1931, Jordi Pericot is considered the pioneer and leading exponent of kinetic art in Catalonia. This summer, the Ideal Centre d'Arts Digitals is dedicating an immersive exhibition to his work, an innovative show that also aims to be a tribute to one of the artists who, in the words of the organisers, "must be reclaimed from our contemporaneity". You can dive into the exhibition until 4 September.
With the name Pericot: Expanded art / Kinetic and cybernetic art, the exhibition features previously unreleased works by the artist, as well as immersive installations created by digital artists who establish a dialogue with Pericot's creations. Before he became famous, the Maresme artist already included technology and computers in the aesthetic category. In fact, the creator has stood out for his work of constant innovation throughout his career and his reflections on semiotics, the pragmatics of the image, political propaganda, pedagogy, design, art and communication. He began as an artist in Paris and, among many other points in his extensive curriculum, he directed the Elisava School of Design for thirteen years, was a professor of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the UPF, as well as one of the architects of the creation of the Audiovisual Communications degree at that same University, and directed the magazine Temps de Disseny.
The exhibition is a project by Layers of Reality, Minoria Absoluta and Magma Cultura, with the collaboration of different companies and organisations and with the support of Barcelona City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya. Check this link for tickets and further information.
