Discovering the secrets of construction in modern Barcelona

Every Sunday in June there is a guided tour of the Born to discover the archaeological site.

If you haven't yet visited the Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria or if you have, but you've left some stories to discover, now you have the chance to take a guided tour for free! Every Sunday in June, this facility offers what it calls an "express visit", i.e. a guided tour, with a small group of people and lasting 30 minutes. Each month is dedicated to a specific aspect of the history of the 1700s, and in this case we will have the opportunity to discover L’art de construir Barcelona, i.e. some of the constructive innovations of the 18th century, such as balconies, cloakrooms or staircases, which we can still see today if we walk around the city. The express tours are a taster of the contents offered by El Born CCM in the guided tours of the regular programme.

The fact is that building Barcelona has had - and still has - its artistic side. The visit highlights "the skill of the stonemasons and master builders who contributed to erecting a city made of stone from Montjuïc". The sculpted beauty that can be found on the façades of the city also serves to follow the life, tastes, anecdotes and tastes of the people of 1700.

The visit is free and in Catalan. The meeting point is at 5.30 p.m. at the ticket office in El Born. If you are a group of more than 10 people and you are interested in a guided tour on a specific theme, do not hesitate to ask for information and contact the Reservations Service: reservaselbornccm@eicub.net or telephone 93 256 68 50 (Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 7 pm).
