Five artistic proposals land from Poblenou on Montjuïc

Castell de Montjuïc presents the exhibition Gestos fora de lloc, a co-production with La Escocesa, which can be visited until 24 March.

The historic building opens on 22nd January at 12 noon an exhibition that represents a movement of translation between spaces, as the artistic creation of La Escocesa, located in Poblenou, moves to Montjuïc to enjoy the proposals of Juan Antonio Cerezuela, the Radial Radiant collective, Michael Lawton, Rosa Lendínez, Natalia Castañeda and Sonia Villar at Gestos fora de lloc. This is a joint exhibition between the Castell de Monjuïc and La Escocesa, a creative factory, a public centre for artistic residencies and a space for the production of contemporary art.

What can you see there? The exhibition includes works by Juan Antonio Cerezuela, Zona en construcció: zona en destrucció, which explains the resistance of Poblenou against the advance of gentrification and property speculation. You will also be able to see the proposal Tòtem, by the Radial Radiant collective, in which you will discover the story of a mysterious artefact that has been present in the collective imagination and the spirit of La Escocesa.

Sonia Villar and Natalia Castañeda present La cinquena pota de la taula to reflect on the passing of time, linked to the Mesa programme. This proposal is a scenography created with elements from La Escocesa to explore the ritual of sharing food as an artistic medium.

The castle's barracks will become the stage for fifty-three paintings by Michael Lawton under the name Una ploma, runes i quelcom més, which narrate poetic moments based on abstraction. Finally, we will explore the sculptural installation Com una gelosia, by Rosa Lendínez. This work is created with pieces of wood that symbolise people, moments and key figures, with the collaboration of Juan Antonio Cerezuela, an expert artist in the field.

The artists participating in this exhibition share a space, a daily life in which multiple affections, affinities and desires are created. Moreover, they aim to build an associative project that transcends the sum of its parts, with a horizontal structure and support networks.

If you want to enjoy the Castell de Montjuïc with the exhibition that presents the artistic creation of La Escocesa, don't miss the exhibition Gestos fora de lloc, which you can see until 24 March. The opening hours are from 10 am to 6 pm, but from 1 March until 8 pm. General admission to the castle costs 12 € and includes access to the temporary and permanent exhibitions.
