Lita Cabellut exhibits “La trilogia del dubte” (The Trilogy of Doubt) in the Espai Volart 2

The exhibition, the first large scale exhibition by the Barcelona-born artist resident in Amsterdam in 35 years, can be seen up until the 21st of July

Conviuen a la mateixa mostra amb la trilogia del dubte la del riure i de la llàgrima, i la de la mort. Totes sota un mateix concepte, el de la condició humana.

Lita Cabellut, the self-defined portraitist of the soul, presents La trilogia del dubte in the Espai Volart 2, part of the Vila Casas Foundation. The exhibition was especially created for the foundation and is the first exhibition by the artist in Barcelona since her exhibition in Masnou at just seventeen years old.

Lita’s somewhat dramatic life and her orphaned childhood on the streets of the Raval district of Barcelona was marked by the discovery of beauty in the Museo del Prado and her intense artistic career displays the marked influence of artists such as Velázquez, Goya, El Bosco and Francis Bacon.

La trilogia del dubte  is a reflection on the two pillars of power, namely injustice and ignorance. According to the artist herself, “Without knowledge, we lose our humanity”. Her oil on canvas portraits use a markedly individual colour palette and simulated antique finishings that lend them a porcelain feel. Brilliant and, at the same time, fragmented, they are the very representation of the soul that perturbs the inner spirit.

The La trilogia del dubte is next  to the artist’s other reflections on laughter and tears, and death, all conditioned by the human condition.
