Viennese classicism in the recital 'Creation of form'

The OBC performs doubles under the direction of Jan Willem de Vriend with works by Baguer, Mozart and Haydn.

Lovers of classical music, especially those composed in the vicinity of Vienna, can not miss the concert offered by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra (OBC) at L'Auditori on April 17 and 18, entitled Creation of Form. Conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend, the orchestra will perform a symphony that is not one of Mozart's best-known compositions, but no less beautiful and sensitive than others in Salzburg's, number 31, known as Paris. They will also perform Haydn's Symphony The Clock, a nickname due to the particular rhythm of the second movement. The program is completed - in fact, will be the first work to play - with Symphony no. 12 in E flat by Carles Baguer. What does the music of a Barcelona composer do in a concert like this? Baguer was born in 1768 and, in addition to being a composer, was organist of the cathedral of Barcelona; his scores were completely influenced by the arrival of Haydn's melodies in Catalonia, and he is considered the great reference of Catalan classicism with Viennese roots.

Attendees will therefore enjoy a full evening of classical music sown in Austria in the last third of the 18th century, a musical universe that, in words that can be read in L'Auditori's hand program, "combines expressive vitality with simplicity of structure: a mix through which hitherto unseen heights of sensitivity could be achieved, with contagious effects in Europe throughout the 17th century".
