A tour organised by El Born CCM

Routes through windows and façades

The Born CCM is organising two routes on Saturday, 25 June, to celebrate the Festa Major of the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera neighbourhoods.

La finestra indiscreta. Els veïns i les veïnes del 1700 and Façanes que parlen de ciutat are the names of the two guided tours that El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria is offering on Saturday, 25 June, as part of the Festes Majors of the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera neighbourhoods. They are two completely independent routes, meaning you can sign up for only one of them if you wish. Both will be held twice: at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Registration is free of charge, but there are limited spots, so it is strongly recommended to book in advance. You can do so on the El Born CCM website, sending an email to reserveselborn@eicub.net, or calling 93 256 68 50.

The itinerary Façanes que parlen de ciutat invites participants to observe elements that are part of the human landscape, especially façades: balconies, doors, windows, sgraffito, and so on. Through this gaze, you can discover the tastes, anecdotes and customs of the people of the neighbourhood, as well as the beauty of many of the buildings in the area. As for La finestra indiscreta. Els veïns i les veïnes del 1700, it is an itinerary that El Born CCM proposes as an act of memory to approach the daily life of Barcelona at the beginning of the 18th century. You will visit the archaeological site of El Born CCM, as well as the Ribera neighbourhood. According to the organisers, the title La finestra indiscreta (Rear Window) also comes from the fact that it is a route with a hint of gossip, as it tells the love stories of the locals as well as the hopes and fears of the people of Barcelona in those years. Incidentally, not very different from what we have today.
