LeGuinCon 1: The short story before and after the revolution
Ursula K. Le Guin is best known for her novels, but she also wrote poetry, essays… and many short stories. The dozens she wrote over the course of her life feature social and political critiques, revolutions, masterclasses in philosophy and much more. Guided by the literary master Le Guin, and in the company of some of the authors and experts who know her the best, we will be repeating the success of 2024 with a LeGuinCon that, in this first session, will consist of a journey through some of her short stories – some well-known, others less so – to examine how so much can be said with so little. We will also examine how her stories reflect her belief that the writer’s job is to imagine a better world. Guided skilfully by Cristina Xifra, the driving force behind LeGuinCon, author Víctor García Tur, playwright Loredana Volpe and publisher Laura Huerga, all Le Guin fans and experts, will explore the development of these stories and the faith and hope she placed in humanity.
