Work to improve the L5 metro line means that services will not be operating between Diagonal and Vilapicina. All other L5 stations will continue to provide services.

The work will renew three kilometres of tracks to improve efficiency and reduce incidents on the L5 service, preparing it for the future increase in the frequency of trains and removing materials detected in the Maragall station which contain asbestos.

The L5 stations out of service from 9 to 18 April (inclusive) are:
– Verdaguer
– Sagrada Família
– Sant Pau | Dos de Maig
– Camp de l’Arpa
– La Sagrera
– Congrés
– Maragall
– Virrei Amat

Metro as the best alternative

The best alternative for travel involving these stops is to use other metro alternatives, where services will be bolstered by around 20% over the coming days to minimise the impact for L5 users.

For instance, from Diagonal users are recommended to use the L3 to get to other interchange stations such as Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça Catalunya, and from there take the L4, L2 or L1 lines to get to the affected areas.

In the case of Verdaguer, users are recommended to use the L4; in the case of Sagrada Família the L2; at the station of La Sagrera the alternatives offered by the L1; at Maragall the L4, and at Vilapicina, to go as far as Vall d’Hebron and switch to the L3.

In the case of the stations of Sant Pau – Dos de maig, Camp de l’Arpa, Congrés and Virrei Amat, users are recommended to go on foot to the nearest stations. In most cases this means a walk of between six and eight minutes. Another option is to use the special bus service.

Bus services and shuttle bus

Extra services are also being laid on for the H8 bus route (Diagonal / La Sagrera) and the D50 (Virrer Amat / Verdaguer), which offer a complementary route to the affected sections. In addition, a shuttle service will be running 30 articulated vehicles and stopping close to the affected metro stations along the route.

The shuttle bus will operate during the same hours as the metro service, but connections between the bus and the metro are not guaranteed with the last vehicles of the day.

People with disabilities and/or reduced mobility have priority on this service.

Planning journeys with enough time

Metro service users are recommended to plan their journeys in advance over the coming days. This can be done with the TMB app or at the websites tmb.cat and Getting there.
