Project to turn Carrer dels Almogàvers into a green street expanded

The street-calming project includes an area of 7,890 square metres, giving priority to pedestrians, bikes and greenery, and adding vitality to local commerce. The remodelling project for C/ Almogàvers follows the model for 21st century streets promoted through the Barcelona Superblock plan, which aims to create a green street every three streets in Cerdà’s grid plan.

The project follows the design for the section of Joan d’Àustria – Pamplona, where an area of 14,000 square metres was remodelled. It will have:

  • A space 15 metres wide for walking, with parterres, a hundred trees and loading and unloading points.
  • A space 5 metres wide for vehicles to circulate at a reduced speed.
  • Bicycles will be able to circulate in both directions at a speed suited to pedestrians.
  • A square of 2,000 square metres with parterres at the junction between Almogàvers – Ciutat de Granada.

The Almogàvers green street forms part of the Poblenou superblock, which together with the transformation of Pl. Glòries and Av. Meridiana, helps develop the pedestrian and bicycle connection with neighbourhood of El Besòs i el Maresme.

The provision is for work to be completed in October.
