Philosopher

Victòria Camps is a professor emeritus of Moral and Political Philosophy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and holds honoris causa doctorates from the universities of Huelva and Salamanca. 

She is the chair of the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation and has been a permanent member on the Spanish Council of State since 2018. Over the course of her career, she has been an independent senator for the Catalan Socialist Party (PSC), a member of the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia, and the chair of the Spanish and Catalan Bioethics Committees. Her books include Virtudes públicas [Public Virtues] (Arpa, 2019), El gobierno de las emociones [The Government of Emotions] (National Essay Prize; Herder, 2011), Breve historia de la ética [A Brief History of Ethics] (RBA, 2017), La fragilidad de una ética liberal [The Fragility of a Liberal Ethics] (Autonomous University of Barcelona, 2018), Elogio de la duda [An Ode to Doubt] (Arpa, 2016), La búsqueda de la felicidad [The Search for Happiness] (Arpa, 2019) and Tiempo de cuidados [Care Time] (Arpa, 2021).
