The naked madness

El peix daurat, at Sala Atrium, is a theatrical monologue about mental wellbeing.

El peix daurat addresses contemporary and complex issues related to mental health. In this play, a monologue, the author invites us to reflect on the different facets of life and the challenges we all face. The play will be performed at Sala Atrium in Barcelona from 9 to 26 March. The writer, director, actress (and also protagonist) Anna Agulló Prieto shares her personal experience with this disorder and explores the sum of factors that provoked it, such as work pressure, precariousness, obsession with success, the fantasy of romantic love, fatphobia or male violence.

It is a work that will move the audience. The author speaks with a sincerity devoid of frills, which is very necessary in today's society, as it allows us to empathise and recognise ourselves in the experiences of others, even in the darkest corners of our soul.

Agulló Prieto has shown that vulnerability is a powerful tool for raising awareness. El peix daurat is an example of how a play can be a powerful tool to convey important messages and offer a unique insight into the complexity of the human condition.

The piece, with an incisive, raw and intimate look, seeks to destigmatise the disorders and open dialogues on mental health in today's society. Through the monologue, the author seeks to transmit to the audience not only the emotions, thoughts and experiences that led her to suffer from this disorder, but also the difficulties she had to overcome it and get out of this depressive spiral.

Tickets can be purchased through the website or at the theatre box office before the performance.
