Marlon James

Marlon James (Jamaica, 1970) is a renowned writer who has made the leap to international acclaim with his monumental trilogy of fantasy, violence and African myths that he started in 2019 with the successful Lleopard negre, llop vermell (Black Leopard, Red Wolf) (Empúries / Seix Barral), featuring the mythical character, Tracker. His novel Breve historia de siete asesinatos (A Brief History of Seven Killings) won the Man Booker Award in 2015 for the best English-language novel, and his debut novel, John Crow’s Devil, won The New York Times Editor’s Choice Award. James currently lives between New York and Minneapolis. Just before the third edition of Festival 42, Empúries and Seix Barral launched the second part of the Tracker trilogy, Moon Witch, Spider King [title yet to be translated].
