Sara Martín Alegre

Sara Martín Alegre (Barcelona, 1966) is a tenured professor of English Literature and Cultural Studies at the Department of English and Germanic Studies of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She specialises in gender studies, especially studies of masculinities, a methodology she applies to study popular fiction in English, especially science fiction and gothic fiction. She is a pioneer in introducing fantastical fiction into academia and has particular interest in studying the concept of the monster. She has written Monstruos al final del milenio, Expediente X: en honor a la verdad, Representations of Masculinity in Literature and Film: Focus on Men and Entre muchos mundos: en torno a la ciencia ficción. In 2018 she published Typescript of the Second Origin, the English translation of Mecanoscrito del segundo origen by Manuel de Pedrolo. She recently published La verdad sin fin: Expediente X (Dilatando Mentes), an expanded edition of the version published in 2006, which encompasses the complete X-Files series and the two films.
