You may know her as Paula Ribó, the name she’s used for a few theatre shows. But music is the discipline where the Barcelona artist, reborn as Rigoberta Bandini in 2019, has truly made a name for herself. Not even Paula herself could have imagined that her alter ego would become a full-blown pop star with songs such as Too Many Drugs, early hits such as Perra and now the near-legendary Ay mamá that debuted at the first Benidorm Fast. Eurovision was not to be, but today, everyone knows who she is. She achieved success with her first album, La emperatriz, and soon after her first tour, her Yo solo quiero amor, from Alejandro Marín’s film Te estoy amando locamente [Love & Revolution] won the 2024 Goya for Best Original Song.

At La Mercè, you may hear her perform songs from her new album, Jesucrista Superstar, some of which focus on articulating the emotions and thoughts of her generation. It’s an ambitious double album. Obsession with a perfect appearance, social media addiction, different aspects of motherhood… All of these themes are explored in the artist’s latest work.
