The Àliga de la Ciutat is one of the most important characters in Barcelona’s festival imaginary (and of many towns and cities in Catalonia), which features in the most solemn moments. But just like everyone else, sometimes the Àliga de la Ciutat likes to let loose a bit... and come out and party with city residents.
With more than 600 years of history, this Eagle who has danced in so many annual festivals wants to show its more festive side. You’ll see it dance freely... carried by an anonymous city resident who previously registered on the Plaça Nova Festival Association website.
Would you like to be an aliguer or aliguera, as the people carrying the eagle are called? If so, sign up on the website so you can have the opportunity to have this amazing experience, but, of course, with full respect for the figure you’re carrying, which represents the traditional essence of the city.
