The Barcelona Seguici Popular, or Communal Procession, is known for the festive elements that have evolved out of the old entremesos (small travelling performances which took the form of theatrical interludes) and have come to form part of popular and traditional culture. They participate in city celebrations and major events, where you will find well-known figures such as the Eagle, the Lion, the mythical Mulassa, as well as the Ox, the Dragon, the She-dragon, the Serene Dragon, the Mace-bearing bighead figures, the Cavallets Cotoners horses and the giants of the City, El Pi and Santa Maria del Mar.
Come and see them at your leisure while they wait to depart from the Palau de la Virreina and make their way up the Rambla in a procession that will take them to Plaça de Sant Jaume for the Toc d'Inici, marking the start of the festival on 23 September.
