How can a dissident identity coexist with a traditional one? That’s the question explored in this dance recital with traditional Catalan practices, part of the park’s night-time programming, the macro-show Glam canalla. Nits al Nord (Rogue Glam.Nights in the North). This show of shows will fill the space with bold, fun, irreverent artists who just want you to enjoy yourself.
Four performers (Mercè Català, Carlota Malo, Pere Seda and Marc Udina) will delve into the collective imagination in search of references that allow them to express themselves. With non-normative identities, they are looking for role models who broke the rules, drawing inspiration from tradition. They’ll take this quest to its limits as they search for the point where the traditional body and the contemporary body – dissident and digital – exchange languages and learn a new dance. At the helm of this creation is director and choreographer Pere Seda, a contemporary dancer who has been involved in traditional dance since the age of three. He is joined by collaborators like Joana Dark, a roots music performer with a powerful gender discourse.
